Description

Small in size. Big on attitude.

The Mini Magpie captures everything you love about our most popular bird — in a palm-sized package. With its sharp silhouette and curious stance, it brings a little boldness to any pot plant, windowsill or raised garden bed.

Perfect for gifting, collecting, or adding a subtle native touch indoors. Like its full-sized sibling, it's made from 3mm Corten® weathering steel, which forms a rich patina over time for a rustic, lasting finish.

Pocket-size perfection... 6cm high × 9cm wide, approx. 100g
Gift-friendly format... A6 branded envelope for easy sending
Fast dispatch... same-day on weekday orders before 2pm
Locally made... in a family-run Australian workshop
Rust-resistant... with natural weathering Corten® steel
Easy to place... tap in with a mallet or hammer

A little legend deserves a proud perch.

  1. Pick a place with personality — a pot, planter, or edge of a raised bed.
  2. Hold the bird at a slight angle for a more natural effect.
  3. Gently tap the stake into the soil until steady.
  4. Let it face into the garden to keep watch over its patch.

Top Tip: Works beautifully alongside native grasses or stone features.

Is this just a small version of the original Magpie?
Exactly. It's the same bold pose, scaled down to fit tight spaces.

Will it last outdoors?
Yes — the steel is made to handle all weather conditions with grace.

Does it require tools to install?
Just a small hammer or mallet — no extra parts needed.

Is it safe to use indoors?
Yes, and the patina won’t transfer to indoor pots.

Are Magpies native to all parts of Australia?
Yes — they're found across most regions and are known for their smarts and song.

Each Metalbird is crafted from Corten® Steel, a premium, weathering steel made to last.

When it meets the elements, it doesn’t rust like your old BBQ. It transforms.

That change you’re seeing? That’s patina. A tough, protective outer layer that seals the steel, adds character, and preserves your bird for decades.

This isn’t paint. It’s nature’s way of ageing gracefully.

The Patina Process:

At first, you’ll notice bright orange spots (we call this the teenage phase). Soon enough, the whole bird will turn a bold orange, slowly shifting into deep burnt umber. Eventually, it settles into a moody charcoal that feels like it’s always belonged.

The Result? A piece of industrial art with a heartbeat. No peeling, no fading, just a bird that gets better with age.
