Winged Hangers - 5 Festive Decorations
Our wooden hanging bird kits feature our five most popular silhouettes, evoking the birds you love with simple lines and heartfelt details. Designed to be shared with loved ones, whether you’re adding a charming twist to an old tradition, or creating an entirely new one. We may have branched out with these decorative birds, but producing locally and ethically remains our biggest priority - these wood cut silhouettes are proudly crafted in New Zealand, made from sustainably grown wood! The cutting process results in a wonderful woodfire/smoky scent - though a slight sooty residue sometimes lingers along the sides (a gentle wipe around the edges with a tissue will remove this)
The fun doesn’t end with installation though - once popped from the kit, the empty wooden board transforms into a handy stencil, with all five bird outlines able to be easily traced onto cards, reimagined or painted with the kids, or used in countless other artistic DIY projects!

Our steel birds are cut from Corten weathering steel. It starts grey and develops a natural rust patina outdoors, bringing orange and brown tones to the silhouette.
The colour and pace of change depend on rain, drying and the place you choose. It is unpainted steel, so the finish will keep changing with its surroundings.
Keep your bird well drained and allow for rusty runoff, which can mark pale walls, paving and pots. Read the product page for its exact material and dimensions.
The Patina Process:
Grey steel starts to show orange rust tones as it weathers outdoors. Those tones can deepen into browns over time; every garden leaves its own mark.
The photograph illustrates the changing surface, rather than a fixed timetable or a guaranteed final colour. Exposure to rain, drying and local conditions all play a part.
Choose a well-drained position and keep rusty runoff away from surfaces that could stain. For a very exposed coastal spot, ask us for advice through the Australian Help Centre.
