Description

A sleek, easy way to turn your backyard into a native bird café.
The Hanging Bird Feeder is a clever blend of simplicity and style. Designed to hold halved fruit—like an orange, apple, or pear—it’s your best bet for attracting nectar-loving birds like rainbow lorikeets, rosellas, honeyeaters, and wattlebirds.

It hangs easily from a tree branch, pergola beam, or porch hook. No screws, no fuss. Just loop it up with twine, pop in some fruit, and enjoy the daily visits from feathered friends. With its minimalist silhouette and weathering Corten® steel, it blends beautifully into your garden and gets better with age.

Great as a gift or an addition to your own bird-friendly backyard.

Our Hanging Feeder is:
Bird-friendly by design – Crafted to attract tūī, silvereye & more
Low effort, high delight – Hang from a branch, post, or pergola
Fruit forward feeding – Holds halved orange, apple, or soft fruit
Compact & elegant – 20 cm high × 18.7 cm wide, approx. 225 g
Made to endure – 3 mm Corten® steel develops a protective patina
Gift-ready – Ships flat in an A4 box (31 × 21 × 1 cm)
Fast dispatch – Same-day shipping on weekday orders before 2pm

No hammer needed — just hang it and let nature do the rest.

1. Choose a spot: a tree branch, porch beam, or pergola hook
2. Thread with string or twine through the top loop
3. Hang securely at bird-height where it's visible and stable
4. Add fruit: oranges, apples, or even banana work well
5. Sit back & watch tūī and silvereye find their way to it

Top Tip: Want to increase your bird traffic? Place the feeder near flowering plants or water sources and refill regularly.

Which birds will this attract?
Mostly rainbow lorikeets, rosellas, honeyeaters, and wattlebirds — especially if you’ve got fresh fruit out.

What type of fruit works best?
Halved oranges and apples are the big winners, but you can also try bananas, pears or watermelon to see who drops by.

Do I need tools to hang it?
No tools needed. Just use twine, garden wire, or string — no drilling or hardware required.

Will it rust over time?
Kind of. It’s made from weathering Corten® steel, which develops a protective patina that gets better with age.

Where’s it made?
Right here in Australia, in a family-owned local workshop. Built to last and made close to home.

Each Metalbird is crafted from Corten® Steel, a premium, weathering steel made to last.

When it meets the elements, it doesn’t rust like your old BBQ. It transforms.

That change you’re seeing? That’s patina. A tough, protective outer layer that seals the steel, adds character, and preserves your bird for decades.

This isn’t paint. It’s nature’s way of ageing gracefully.

The Patina Process:

At first, you’ll notice bright orange spots (we call this the teenage phase). Soon enough, the whole bird will turn a bold orange, slowly shifting into deep burnt umber. Eventually, it settles into a moody charcoal that feels like it’s always belonged.

The Result? A piece of industrial art with a heartbeat. No peeling, no fading, just a bird that gets better with age.
