The original larrikin with feathers.

Our Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo isn’t here to whisper sweet nothings — he’s here to squawk, strut, and steal the spotlight. With his unmistakable crest and proud pose, this bold backyard bird brings a cheeky bit of character to any fence post, tree, or timber rail.

We’ve captured his silhouette in weathering Corten® steel, made locally in Australia and crafted to last a lifetime. No crumbs required.

No mess. No noise. Just an Aussie icon — exactly where you want him.

This parrot’s perch is your canvas.

1. Choose a good vantage point — they like attention.
2. Angle the bird slightly down so the crest pops proudly.
3. Tap the thickest end of the stake gently into timber with a hammer.
4. Secure it in place with a light wobble test — no squawking, please.
5. Optional: Add gum leaves nearby for extra Aussie flair.

Top Tip: Installing near a deck or sitting area? It’s a guaranteed conversation starter.

Is this based on the real Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo?
Absolutely. Crest, stance, and attitude — all captured in silhouette.

Will it last outdoors?
Yes — it's made from 3mm Corten® steel that patinas naturally and lasts for years.

Can I give this as a gift?
It’s one of our bestsellers for birthdays, housewarmings, and bird lovers who like a bit of cheek.

How loud is it?
Thankfully silent — unlike the real thing.

Do Cockatoos really live 70+ years?
They do! In captivity, some live up to 80 years — cheeky and long-lived, just like the friendships they often symbolise.

Each Metalbird is crafted from Corten® Steel, a premium, weathering steel made to last.

When it meets the elements, it doesn’t rust like your old BBQ. It transforms.

That change you’re seeing? That’s patina. A tough, protective outer layer that seals the steel, adds character, and preserves your bird for decades.

This isn’t paint. It’s nature’s way of ageing gracefully.

The Patina Process:

At first, you’ll notice bright orange spots (we call this the teenage phase). Soon enough, the whole bird will turn a bold orange, slowly shifting into deep burnt umber. Eventually, it settles into a moody charcoal that feels like it’s always belonged.

The Result? A piece of industrial art with a heartbeat. No peeling, no fading, just a bird that gets better with age.
